  • ok...maybe I went overboard, but now it seems I have too many Napoleonic mods! and I'm not sure which ones work best together, or work together even at all...so my question is, if you're really into the Napoleonic mods and were advising a friend, which exact mods (OOBs, MODS, toolbars, maps, etc.) would you have him/her install and "turn on"? (it seems I have too many now, so anything you list I probably already have or at least can find...if you have one that I might not be able to find that you like please point me in the right direction for finding it)...thanks!

  • Try here: Napoleon Mod
The Road To Wagram link is in post#6 and the KS mod is in post#1. Start with those two. Note: other toolbar mods and oobs will probably not work with them.

I can make this march and I will make Georgia howl.

  • Second that.

Also RebBugler did some good work on a Nap Toolbar, which I believe can still be used with Road to Wagram 1.6, but I could be wrong??

    www.norbsoftdev.net/forum/napoleonic-era/39598-road-to-wagram-a-peninsular-with-baf-toolbar

At the Kriegsspiel group we have been playing and testing the KS mod in MP and are having some excellent games (often in co-op against the AI). The mod has also incorporated some of the better features of the RB's Nap Toolbar mod but has a whole load of extra stuff in there too.

The Scenario Generator can also be used for Nap games. Is A++ and we use it a lot.

You could also try out the Nap portrait mod (lite), which can be used with the WtR 1.6 but not yet with the KS nap mod. It is a WIP but will give a flavour of what is to come early new year.

  • i am ressurecting a pretty much old topic.

i had seen once in histwar les grognards,
a strategy based on napoleonic wars, a mod that
made possible to have a campaign very much like
cossacks 2 did! i think now that it may very well be
that the team that moded that used cossacks mechanics.

if i understand correctly  the new game will have
mechanics that will allow the campaign in a grand scale, featuring
    north france, belgium?

also does anyone knows about this game?: www.matrixgames.com/products/487/details/Napoleon's.Campaigns
i read from reviews that it's pretty good.

  • Looking at the map accuracy I'd be doubtful about how much realism there is in that. Sussex is NOT west of the Solent, nor is 'Wessex' (wherever that was in 1805) east of it!

Its not difficult to get maps accurate - what else have they made silly errors on?

On the screenshots alone I'd avoid this, personally.

  • the problem with this, is that it doesn't feature
    a grand campaign!

beside sussex being west of solent :) :) !

  • hoping to resolve the mini-map "time freezing" soon (smile), and if so:

    - to play any of these NAP scenarios/mods MP, assuming i'm hosting the game, which exact mods/maps/etc would the other players need to have installed, if any (and activated if it's a mod)?

    thanks!!

This is controlled in the gscreens.csv file. Find the new 'Map' line and in column D (Index) insert a 1, replacing 2 or 0.

    Edit: Oops, column F

  • that did it!! for my file(s) though, Index is column F and the line # I needed to change was "89" (from a 0 to a 1)...

I'm close to being all set now except:

    - the only NAP era map I have is Alpine, so i'll need to locate some more and then learn how to "add them" so they show up on my avail map list if playing a sandbox game

    - and figure out what other players will need (OOB's, or MODS, maps, etc.) in order for me to host a MP game?

  • There aren't any Napoleonic era maps. Our MP group plays on the ACW maps and just imagines the buildings are European and not American!

Garnier has released a lot of 'random maps' that are computer generated and lack any buildings. Those without many stone walls and forests have a slight feel of central Europe, so you could try those.

Other players in MP must have the same mods activated in the same order and the same maps. Only the host needs the OOB or scenario.

  • so, there's no way to import maps used in the Kriegspiel or Blenheim mods? (they'd be a better fit I would think?)

(edit: never mind...guess they use the same maps as well!!!)

  • If you have the KS Mod then you have the KS maps! All players must have the mod enabled though.

The Blenheim mod uses the basic Gettysburg maps and adds terrain to them - same buildings though. You could not enable the Blenheim mod to play Nap on those maps because the Blenhein mod has its own logistics folder. You'd have to disable the Blenheim mods logistics folder and toolbar by renaming them, or make a new mod called 'Blenheim Maps' or something and put the maps folder from Blenheim in there.

  • thanks...what I did was create a 2nd mod folder (called it "Blenheim Maps for NAP") and copied every Blenheim file/folder into it except "logistics", activated it, and it seems to be working just fine; playing a sandbox waterloo game on the Blenheim map...
