The Napoleonic conversion can be found in this thread:
    www.norbsoftdev.net/forum/napoleonic-era/56376-beta-new-version-for-sp-and-mp

This is an updated version that combines the previous seperate Road to Wagram and Peninsular Mod into one mod that can be used in multiplayer as well as the normal single player.

    Notes on Artillery
Austrian artillery is considered inferior to the French equivalent and there effective ranges are reduced, for example the Austrian 6-pdr has an effective range of around 400yards compared to the French 550yards.

    Notes on Cavalry
To use cavalry move them around like you would any unit. They will auto charge at 100yards so move them to within that range of the unit you want to them to charge. Due to the lack of squares cavalry has been made more fragile than perhaps they were to balance the game play out. All cavalry do not dismount.

Tip - cavalry will be reluctent to charge if severely out numbered. Take Command of the unit and use the charge button to ensure the unit charges.

    Note on infantry
Most muskets have a range of 120yards. Most French ligne units can not skirmish as they have 'detached' voltigeurs for this. The size of the battalions in this campaign are very large (most Austrian ones were up to 1200) so i have split most of them up and have used a (1) or (2) in their name to represent this. This means that armies will occupy the correct amount of space on the battlefield.

    List of Ranks
    FrenchAustrianBavarian/Wurttenberg
    ColColonelOberstOberst
Brig GenGeneral de Brigade (GdB)GeneralmajorGeneralmajor (GM)
Maj GenGeneral de Division (GdD)Feldmarschallleutant (FML)Generalleutant (GL)
    Lt GenMaréchal d´EmpireFeldzeugmeister (Inf)-
    General de Kavallerie (Cav)

    Please leave feedback for improvements.

Big thank you to the Lordz modding team to allow use of some of their textures. B)

  • Right on Gunship! We've all been waiting for this with bated breath. Maybe we can get the map guys to produce some maps for this. And how about some scenarios?

    Nice work.

  • G,

So here it is so far - Downloaded the mod. NP. Installed the entire thing straight into the Mods section. NP. Everything appears to load up fine. Press the space bar and it crashes. The little window comes up and says "SOWGB has stopped working..." etc.

Question - Are we supposed load the folders into other, existing ones, rather than stuff all of it into the Mods section? Also, I am running Windows 7. Could that make a difference?

  • Jack,

I'm running Windows 7. I had no problem. I extracted the mod. Selected it in the Mod section of the game. Went into Sandbox. Chose the Kansas map. Picked Brigade vs. Brigade. Picked some French Brigade commander. Started the game and it worked fine.

I see Beef Stu is having a similar problem.

Not much help I'm afraid except it does work for me.

  • Just tried the GB map and it worked as well. BvB LOS.

G - One thing I did notice is the flags on the map are still ACW. Nit picking I know and maybe something you can't change. But I'm a tester. I can't help myself. :P

  • That's too bad. One thing I did notice is when I selected BvB and LOS and loaded the game I had no opposition. The time before it was only a battery of artillery. That just may be a OOB thing. I never play Sandbox.

Hi Jack and Beef Stu, first off what version are you guys running of SoW? Mine is v1.3 as displayed in top left of main menu. Second what does the log file say in your Work folder? Hope that will give some clues as to what is going wrong when you go in game. I am using Vista but i would be surprised if that was the issue.

The mod is self contained and goes straight into the Mod folder, no need to split it up.

Yes, there are several minor things like this around. I wanted to add new splash screens, menu screens, icons, more units, more flags, end battle screens etc. I plan to tie this all up after a little break.

When I unzipped the mod to my desktop, I clicked on the folder and brought up the next folder. The second folder is the one that needs to be put in the mods folder. I had that same problem with another mod before. Try that.

  • Okay, here are the issues - Not enough textures for French and Austrian Infantry, several of those. Texture file not found for French Ammo wagon. Couldn't load sprite for French Ammo wagon. Error in GUI - couldn't load Doublequick sound efx. (That may be my fault - I always remove that sound. The constant DblQck bugle sound drives me nuts.) Everything else is there.
    Thoughts?

  • AND... since I am being really annoying today - What is the latest version of the SDK? I may not have that.
Also, would that make the difference?

  • Jack,

Here's the latest version of the SDK:

    www.norbsoftdev.net/index.php?option=com_kunena&func=view&catid=42&id=33642&Itemid=124

    Shouldn't make a difference.

I would put that sound file back for troubleshooting purposes.

Have you tried different levels of the OOB? Try BvB LOS. That worked for me. Forgive me if you've tried that.

  • I hate to say it, given the file size, but I think you may have a corrupted download. I just checked my log file and do not have any of those errors. I used the Eggmuhl OOB. Give that one a try if you haven't already.

  • Born,

Loaded and installed latest SDK. Might of had it but who knows. Think I ran it from the site rather than saving it. Out the DblQck sound back in. Yes, I tried a smaller game - thanks.. Didn't work. Starting up again. Glad I found the damn log file.
