  • Yank,

This is the SDK 1.5 modding tools, not the 1.5 patch itself. This is an entirely seperate item, used to mod the game, create scenarios, and such.

  • I am trying to download the 1.5 patch and I have my activation key for my SoW Gettsyburg download, however I also purchased Pipe Creek and Antietam and I do not have activation keys for those. I dont recall ever getting activation keys for those games. What should I do? Because I cannot get the update without those numbers

The Matrix games write a "serialreg.txt" into the main folder of the games.

  • All,

Is there a clean copy of this I can download? I realized the other day I hadn't installed this. I've tried three times today, on two different computers, to download this. I keep getting the "invalid data" message. Thoughts?

Most antivirus programs have Norb's name on its no-fly list. Norb obviously hacked his way through high school and college and somehow the word got out.

  • I've tried loading after renaming it to the correct folder and it's a no go. I'm running the Matrix load and all is up to date. Says the folder does not exist.

  • EDIT: Have been reading around on the forum and found that I have confused the ways modding is working. I was expecting some waredit program (as from TC2M). I dig in...

    Hi,
After some time away from the front I reinstalled SOWGB (anniversary edition) and wanted to download the SDK.
When I run the install it want me to put the SDK in a Norb..-file, away from my Matrix-file where I got the game. No matter where I select the SDK to go, I cant find any SDK-program file to open the oob-files. I have all the other content in the SDK, like the oob-files. They are all still in windows works mode.
Im sure Im missing some very important point here - can anyone please direct me to how the SDK works, for dummies :)
    Best regard...

The SDK contains the files and manual with instructions on how to mod the game.

The OOB files are opened with excel. You can also open them in open office, or a text editor but they are pretty hard to edit in text.

Is this downloaded in Mod File? Is Game Version 1.6 ok or should I update to 1.6.1? And is this latest and last scenario generator for Gettysburg, meaning, if I want to write scenarios, this is it?

    Thanks all,
    the reb

  • It's not downloaded as a mod, just stand-alone files. I store the SDK in Gettysburg's /Work folder.

There was never any scenario generator issued by NSD for Gettysburg. Leffe7's SG is what we have (and it's pretty good but is mainly designed for MP play), plus this SDK.

I have never written a scenario intended for SP, so I can't comment on how to use scripting in scenarios. Building scenarios for Gettysburg for use in MP is very simple. You can design, build and test one in an afternoon once you've found your way around what's needed.

You don't need to update to Gettysburg v1.6.1 to use Leffe7's SG or the SDK, but I'd suggest you update anyway since if you pay MP you'll need to have the latest version.

Thanks Saddletank, can you generate a Single Player scenario from Leffe7?

  • Yep. His SG doesn't include scripting but it can do everything else and is very flexible.

    Thanks Saddletank,

What is scripting defined as....arrival times, arrival locations? Guess I should download and see for myself....

  • Usually timings. You can have a force "switch on", for example, and become active at a certain point in a scenario with a script to represent reinforcements. Scripting only works in single player scenarios.

I was hoping to learn how to create mods using the SDK ver 1.06 Manual. Unfortunately the instructions "How to Mod a Scenario" don't seem to relate to the Scenario chosen. The .csv file referred to bears no resemblance to the description in the manual. Is there a different version of the manual or is this it? I appreciate this was written a good while ago but I'm new to SOW

The SDK is a valuable tool for definitions and reference. It's dated but is still considered the modding bible for SOW. I learned modding by studying the csv files and learning how they work by trial and error, and of course, asking questions. There's not much support staff around lately as they're working on SOW's next game, still, there's lots of knowledgeable SOW community members that fill in and are always willing to help out future modders as yourself.

    Good Luck Sir
